4 Day Overberg Tour

DAY 1
CAPE TOWN – SOMERSET WEST/STELLENBOSCH
This morning we make an early start and head for Cape Point. We start by following the Atlantic coastline, via Chapman’s Peak Drive (weather dependant) and into the Cape Point National Park. After spending some time admiring the views of False Bay, the fauna and flora, we make our way to Muizenberg via Kalk Bay (for a coffee and pastry at a local landmark bakery) following the False Bay coastline. We leave the coastline, turn inland and make our way to Somerset West. (Approx 180km)
DAY 2
SOMERSET WEST – CAPE AGULHAS
We make an early start to the day and head for the False Bay coastline through Gordon’s Bay. We follow the scenic and twisty Clarence Drive to Hermanus (Southern Right Whale viewing June – November). After lunch, the route again turns inland, this time through the rolling wheat fields of the Cape Overberg. We stop briefly at the only shipwreck museum in South Africa in Bredasdorp before turning south towards Cape Agulhas (the southern most tip of Africa), our overnight stop. (Approx 219km)
DAY 3
CAPE AGULHAS – MONTAGU
For those early rises, weather permitting; you can watch the sunrise over the Indian/Atlantic Ocean. We then head north through Bredasdorp and onto Suurbraak. A village where time stands still. Here we have lunch. After a relaxed meal, the route goes through the exhilarating Tradouws Pass. At the R62 we go left for Montagu where we overnight. (Approx 212km)
DAY 4
MONTAGU – CAPE TOWN
From Montagu we follow the R62 through Robertson and the vineyards to Worcester. One of South Africa’s oldest passes is our highlight for the day – Bains Kloof Pass. We then head west towards the Atlantic Ocean via Malmesbury and the rolling wheat fields and onto the R27 and use Table Mountain as our guide back to Cape Town. We stop for a brief photo opportunity at Bloubergstrand of Table Mountain. (Approx 220 – 300km)
