Discover the history and beauty of the Cape Winelands with the Winelands Full Day Tour. There’s Cape Dutch architecture, rolling vineyards, rocky mountain ranges, wine, vintage cars and hand made chocolate. Our first stop of the day is at Altydgedacht in theDurbanville winelands. We then head for Fairview for a goat’s cheese, olive oil, bread and wine tasting.
We take a drive past the prison where Nelson Mandela was released from before arriving in Franschhoek. Here you get the opportunity to walk down the Main Road from the monument side, meeting at the handmade Belgian chocolate shop. After a chocolate taste sensation, its off to lunch (options at Franschhoek or at Boschendal under the oaks or inside the house near the fireplace). For those who love old cars through the ages, a visit to the Franschhoek Motor Museum is an absolute must. There is everything from a Model T Ford to the Ferrari Enzo.
After lunch, it’s off to Stellenbosch. There is an abundance of architecture and history which could keep you occupied for a few days. Unfortunately we only have 1-½ hours before heading for our last tasting of the day at Waterford Estate before returning to Cape Town in the late afternoon.
There are many wine farms to visit and various routes to take. This is only one of many options available.
